POSITION SUMMARY: 

Responsible for leading and managing the overall development program of St. Marcus. The Director of Development works closely with school and church leadership, the board of directors, and committees involved in engaging donors, prospective donors, community members, and other stakeholders. This individual will help to establish fund development goals to meet overall financial objectives and ensure that the organization is fiscally sound and growth-focused, annually raising $3-4 million in support of programming plus capital and endowment dollars for future growth and sustainability. This individual is responsible for developing and executing a consistent, strategic plan to achieve these goals.

SUPERVISES: Gift Planning & Strategy Officer, Manager of Advancement Operations, Annual Giving Coordinator, Donor Services Coordinator

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS IN ADDITION TO SUPERVISOR: Mission Advancement & Business Office Teams

JOB TYPE/FLSA: Full-Time / Year Round / Salaried / Exempt

HOURS: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; evenings and weekends as needed 

LOCATION: On-site, North Avenue Campus (Hybrid options available)


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree

  • Minimum 5-10 years of professional fundraising experience in a nonprofit organization

  • Demonstrated senior leadership with strategic, policy, fundraising, and budget planning experience in an organization

  • Ability to think strategically and have a thorough understanding of strategic development

  • Proven track record of achieving revenue targets

  • Familiarity with donor databases and ability to define donor segments and structure customized approaches

  • High level of computer proficiency and experience in Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Suite

  • Alignment with St. Marcus Core Values - Christ First, Biblical Discipleship, Sacrificial Love, and Radical Expectations
  • Required criminal history background check, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the director of the school’s comprehensive campaign, working closely with leadership and other campaign teams.  
  • Assist with the development and oversee execution of strategies and tactics within the comprehensive development plan including major and planned gifts, corporate and foundation relations, and annual and employee giving to help St. Marcus fulfill its mission through increased philanthropic contributions.
  • Manage the daily operations of the development function including the supervision of assigned personnel. Train and lead other staff to support fundraising efforts. 
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of mid-level to major donors (including individuals, corporations, and foundations) and work to connect them closer to St. Marcus both fiscally and personally.
  • Lead the process of 1:1 donor cultivation and solicitation and model, train, and mentor team members in this practice. 
  • Represent St. Marcus at community events, developing and maintaining relationships with donors and community leaders to increase the financial capacity and awareness of St. Marcus. 
  • Maintain and manage fundraising activities and a cultivation calendar in collaboration with the Director of Communications.
  • Advises and collaborates on St. Marcus Church fundraising/events.
  • Work with the organization’s foundation board to ensure fundraising alignment  
  • Develop an annual Mission Advancement team budget based on forecasting and future growth strategies.
  • Stay on top of current non-profit trends.
  • Hours must be flexible to accommodate evening/weekend meetings and events.

SALARY

Salary commensurate with experience, range $75,000 - $88,000
